Role: Junior Project Manager -- MUST HAVE experience within Utilities industry domain

Contract Duration: 12 months (and renewable for an additional 12 months)

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week at Vaughan office)

Rate: Negotiable

Client and Role Description

Our client is a Large Scale Utilities Provider (Municipal), seeking a Junior Project Manager with experience in the utilities industry to join their team. The Project Manager will provide experienced professionals with a hands-on experience in growing, enhancing, and scaling work that the Grid Modernization team is leading. The successful candidate will bring relevant industry experience, strong organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage communications and stakeholder relationships effectively. You will work alongside senior project leads to ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure and operational projects.

This role offers a hybrid work environment with occasional travel to our Vaughan office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of electricity utility projects from initiation through to completion
  • Support project planning activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting
  • Track project progress, identify potential risks, and contribute to issue resolution - Facilitate communication across cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and meeting materials
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment, clarity, and timely information sharing
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal project governance frameworks

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of project coordination or project management experience in the **electricity or utilities sector**
  • Strong understanding of utility operations, infrastructure, or distribution projects
  • Excellent **communication and stakeholder management** skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira)

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in documentation, reports, and schedules and keeping track of multiple tasks, meetings, and deliverables.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Working effectively with various departments and teams.
  • Adaptability: Adjusting to changes in project scope, deadlines, and priorities. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows 10 and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Teams
  • Certifications: A candidate with a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP) would be an asset to the role
  • Education: The Grid Modernization team is specifically looking for candidates with Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Industrial Engineering programs.
