Job Summary and Qualifications We're looking for a Dir, Product Design who brings hands-on design leadership to the forefront-someone who can roll up their sleeves to shape exceptional digital experiences while building and leading a high-performing product pod design team. You'll own the end-to-end design process, from concept to execution, and drive design strategy across HCA's digital transformation and innovation initiatives. This role requires aligning business, user, and technical goals into cohesive, AI-enhanced digital product experiences. It's a high-impact position based in Nashville, TN, requiring close collaboration with product, engineering, and operations teams.
What you will do in this role: - Provide hands-on leadership, actively contributing to design work from early concept through final execution.
- Build and grow a high-performing pod design team within a flat hierarchy-hire, mentor, and set the vision.
- Demonstrate mastery in human-centered design grounded in behavioral psychology and accessibility, and influence others through expertise.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and operations to shape roadmaps and prioritize delivery.
- Design and prototype future-state experiences, leveraging AI and emerging technologies.
- Apply systems thinking to ensure scalable, cohesive experiences across platforms and services.
- Facilitate workshops to drive alignment and co-create strategy; visit hospitals onsite to engage with users and gather direct feedback.
- Partner with process improvement teams to leverage data and research for informed decision-making and solution optimization.
- Represent design at the executive level, clearly communicating impact, rationale, and user value to drive buy-in.
What qualifications you will need: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field - Required
- Master's degree - Preferred
- 10+ years of experience in UX, product, or service design, including 3+ years in design leadership or team lead roles
- Team leadership experience, including building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing design teams
- Skilled in prototyping tools (Figma, Lovable); frontend knowledge (HTML/CSS/JS/React) is a plus
- Portfolio of work demonstrating strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and measurable impact will be expected for review during the interview process
Location/Schedule: - Nashville, TN area (near Centennial Park)
- Onsite: M-F
